The Borderless family
Questions, answered straight
Which countries does Mavunta Borderless work in today?
Kenya has the full experience: pay merchants with M-Pesa, Airtel Money, card, PayPal, crypto, or Mavunta balance, and cash out to mobile money. Digital dollar transfers between Mavunta accounts work everywhere. The countries page shows exactly what works where, including what is still planned.
Do I need to understand crypto to use this?
No. You can pay with mobile money, a card, or PayPal like you already do. Behind the scenes the value moves as digital dollars (USDT or USDC). The person receiving can hold that balance, spend it, or sell it for shillings where cash out is live.
What does it cost?
Sending between Mavunta accounts is free. Where a fee or a rate spread applies, for example when buying with mobile money or when a merchant payment is converted, it is shown on the confirm screen before you pay. The fees page explains every line.
What if the person I am paying is not on Mavunta yet?
Send a claim link. They open it, create an account with identity verification appropriate to the amount, and collect. The money stays yours until it is claimed.
How do refunds and disputes work?
Merchants can refund Mavunta balance payments directly from their dashboard. Payments made through partner methods are refunded with support while those rails are completed. Marketplace orders can use escrow, where the money is held until you confirm delivery. The travel safety page walks through every case.
Is Mavunta a licensed money transfer service?
Mavunta is in early access and does not claim any licence that has not been granted. Card, mobile money, and PayPal payments are processed by licensed payment partners. Crypto services are being prepared under the Kenyan virtual asset framework. The compliance status page states exactly where things stand.
