Who we are
Mavunta is a Kenya-first crypto payments and wallet platform in early access.
Mavunta is a product operated by Mavunta Technologies Limited, Company No. PVT-J616YDKJ, a private limited company incorporated in Kenya.
Mavunta Technologies Limited, Company No. PVT-J616YDKJ, is a private limited company incorporated in Kenya under the Companies Act, 2015 on 18 July 2026. A private limited company registration is a business registration, not a virtual-asset-service licence; see our Compliance Status page.
Mavunta was founded by Patrick KN, Founder and director.
02
Compliance status
Mavunta is preparing for compliance under Kenya’s Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) framework. We do not claim to be licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) or the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) unless and until such a licence is granted.
Our full position, and how it will change over time, is on the Compliance Status page.
03
How your funds are protected
Mavunta uses a Model B design: when you buy crypto it is delivered directly into your own wallet, and we never custody a fiat balance on your behalf. Your crypto is yours.
- Every balance ties to its ledger entries, which are reconciled continuously. No phantom credits.
- On-chain withdrawals are signed in a hardware-isolated system that is separate from the app.
- Hot wallet exposure is minimised by sweeping funds to cold storage.
- We publish a reserve-transparency view today; signed on-chain attestations are being prepared, and we describe them honestly rather than overclaiming "proof of reserves".
04
Security controls
Account and money-movement security is layered, and money leaving the platform is gated:
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) and passkeys, plus a separate transaction PIN.
- Withdrawals require a verified email and PIN, and 2FA for higher-value amounts. API keys cannot move fiat out.
- New payout method or recipient: a cooling-off period (currently 24 hours) before the first payout to a new destination.
- Name-match on payouts: fiat cash-outs pay the account holder verified on your KYC, and a payout method can be restricted when the name does not match.
- P2P trades are escrow-protected, with explicit warnings to never release for a mismatched sender name or third-party payment.
- Transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and manual review of higher-risk withdrawals.
- Account-takeover protections that can pause withdrawals after sensitive changes (password, 2FA, device).
05
Withdrawals: can you get your money out?
Yes. Your crypto stays in your own wallet and you can withdraw it. Most withdrawals are reviewed and processed within 24 hours in most cases, with manual review on higher-value or higher-risk payouts.
The full method-by-method detail, including minimums, fees, when a withdrawal can be delayed, and what documents we may request, is on the Withdrawal Policy page.
06
Fees
We publish our fees and we do not advertise discounts our system does not actually apply. Spot trading starts at a 0.1% maker fee; on-chain withdrawals pay the network fee set by the blockchain; fiat cash-outs may carry a provider processing fee.
The complete, current fee schedule is on the Fees page.
07
Supported assets
Mavunta supports 384+ digital assets across multiple networks for buying, selling, holding, and trading. The live list, with prices, is on the Markets page. We only show assets we actually support.
08
Account limits
Accounts have limits that scale with your verification level. They protect you and other users while our controls and compliance posture mature, and they rise as you verify. The exact limits are shown in your account.
09
What is live, and what is not yet live
We would rather tell you plainly than imply everything is finished. Today:
- Fully live: buying and selling crypto (M-Pesa, card, bank, PayPal), spot trading, instant convert, P2P, Mavunta Pay, on-chain deposits and withdrawals, and free user-to-user transfers.
- In limited beta, not promoted publicly: Earn, AI tools, copy trading, and collectibles. These are available to signed-in users with their own disclosures.
- Not yet live: leveraged and derivative products (futures, margin, options) are switched off and are not offered during beta.
10
Risk disclosure
Crypto assets are volatile and can lose value. On-chain transfers are irreversible. You are responsible for your account security and for the addresses you send to. Please read the full Risk Disclosure before trading.
