Yes: live today. Partial: works with conditions. Planned: not live yet, do not rely on it.
How people pay in Kenya
- Mobile money runs daily life. M-Pesa and Airtel Money are accepted almost everywhere, from supermarkets and fuel stations to boda riders and market stalls.
- Cards work at hotels, malls, and larger restaurants. Smaller shops often prefer mobile money.
- Cash is still useful in rural areas and small markets.

Cash and ATMs

Finding places to pay
Look for the Mavunta QR or payment link, and check the merchant name on the checkout before you pay. The acceptance network is growing while Mavunta is in early access.
One receipt, always
Every payment ends in a permanent receipt with a public verification link. Share it on WhatsApp or show it at a counter.
Corridors through Kenya
Travel with confidence
Pay the verified merchant
The checkout names the business you are paying, so a sticker over a real QR cannot quietly redirect your money. Do not release cash or goods until both screens show Paid.
Rates and fees up front
Whatever the country, the exact rate and any fees are shown before you confirm. The fees page lists every charge Mavunta applies.
Questions
What can I do with Mavunta in Kenya right now?
The full experience. Pay merchants with M-Pesa, Airtel Money, card, PayPal, crypto, or Mavunta balance. Merchants settle in USDT or USDC and can cash out to Kenyan shillings.
How do I see the exchange rate and fees before paying?
The exact rate and any fees appear on the confirm screen before you pay, never after. For orientation before you travel, the FX calculator shows live indicative rates across nineteen currencies.
What if a payment is pending or a merchant says it did not arrive?
Do not pay again. The payment status shows Paid, Pending, Failed, or Refunded, and both sides can open support with the payment reference. The travel safety page walks through pending payments, wrong amounts, fake QR codes, and lost phones.
